Consistent landmarks such as geometric shapes, especially circles, and a varied use of color and texture, surface throughout much of my work. When I start a painting the only thing on my mind is to explore a passion or maybe to discover a new way of doing something. It may be only the joy of creation that has brought me closer to happiness in my day to day existence and I only hope that the viewer can see in my work whatever it is that will help them discover the same. Be it just a momentary smile or the same hope I experience every time I create, my wish is for all who see to know the joy I feel in the sharing of my art. Growing up in Hamilton, Ohio, I remember winning a prize in a local shopping mall art contest. I did not realize it at the time, but the real prize was the seed of knowledge planted of who I was truly meant to become in this life. Dallas, Texas was my next home and where I started my journey with abstract acrylics, experimenting with texture and larger size works. Miami Beach, Florida became my home in 1990, where I continued to broaden my use of color and incorporate the circle as a very important symbol of my style. Several successful art shows at Impromptu in Madison Park and the love and support of many good friends convinced me to make the move to Seattle in 2004. Wonderful things have happened in my life since then, such as being asked to donate a painting that sold in the Seattle gay men's chorus auction in 2004 and starting classes at Gage Academy of Fine Art (the new name of Seattle Academy of Fine Art).I look forward to integrating all I learn about drawing and painting the human form into my work and letting an evolution of style once again take place both in my life and my work. Thank you for sharing something that I find as necessary for life as the air we breathe and helps us not only see the beauty in our creations and environment, but in each other as well. |
